V8i Inventor drawing to dgn issues

Hi,

We produce 3D models of electrical cabinets in Inventor which produces a ACAD 2D drawing. Our client requires all work as dgn's. I have tried to export as a dgn from ACAd but this is not working because I assume the information is a reference to  a 3D model opposed to vectors. I have also tried saving the ACAD file as as 2007 version and this does not help either. I have attached what it should look like if the process worked (this was created by attaching a pdf as a raster over the title block).

Some issues have been the table of materials can not be edited, the bottom view comes in as a duplicate of the front view but a smaller viewport and one cabinet show an isometric view overlayed with a orthographic..

Can anyone offer any suggestions? I have spent a lot of time on this and have got nowhere. We do not want to just redraw everything into microstation as this is not an accurate method and it will not reflect the 3D model.

Thanks in advance!!

  • Hi, I assume the dwg you created is looking good when you open it with Microstation or ACAD?  what Element Types have you got?  The attached pdf is created at which step of your process?

    Could you attach the dwg?

I have seen the issue of the smaller Viewport. May be an issue with the scale vs. resolution (for a while I suspect the Resolution/Units of the Default dwg-SEED provided by microstation could be responsible for this kind of behaviour)

ACAD and Microstation appear handling references and "Viewports" differently" DWG with sometimes strange behaviour.

Editing of the table (if that is a shared cell) can be resolved by dropping the "shared cell" to a normal cell, If the Texts are tags you have to first drop them into text with the keyin: CHANGE TAGS DROPTEXT

I prefer keeping the referencing but Merge-into-Master (ReferenceDialog) may be a last Resort to get a good looking (yet low-level) Output.

I hope that helps you to get ahead
