Hi Don,
The new DWG apparently carries a lot of important info for rendering / visualisation.
Are all of this accessible? Can Mstn mapped textures or materials be translated? Including those that are assigned to solid faces?
Regards,
Dominic
The new materials (R2007 and up) are not supported in currently released 8.11.7 (SS1/2), but will be in upcoming release 8.11.9 (SS3?). Keep an eye on BE Communities for beta/preview announcement. When it becomes available you may sign up for beta test. If you like, you can also send us a few DWG files containing materials(textures, material mapping, etc) and lights(Sun, shadows, webs, etc), so we can check them for you now.
Thanks for the reply....
Will materials assigned in Mstn dgn be preserved when converted into a DWG?
Regards
Yes, directly assigned material will be saved to DWG as is. BYLEVEL with single level assignment will also be saved as bylayer. Multiple levels on a BYLEVEL will be turned to direct assignment as there is no such a concept in DWG.
Phew.. Thanks
Don,
Do you have any Idea when this latest version will be available to "select" users. As a small operation, I can just about justify the investment in microstation and not Autocad or 3Dsmax. I really need the ability to export files with materials (in a kind of wyswig way), otherwise I'm frozen out of the market.
