I use Microstation 08.11.09.459 and it seems that when saving a DGN file with only a single sheet model to a DWG file, I get a paperspace model in the DWG file.
With older versions of Microstation this always resulted in a DWG file with a modelspace. Which was perfect for my situation.
Is there a way to control what a DGN sheet becomes when saving to DWG? Variabel, DWG save option,... ?
thx
Hello,
When saving a file to a DWG in MicroStation, you can control how the file will appear by using the Save As DWG dialog.
Select Save As from the File menu.
Change the file type to .DWG and select the Options button.
Select Advanced>Create Paper Space
If selected, each non-default design model is saved to a drawing layout (paper space) in the DWG model that contains the default design model. Reference attachments are merged according to the Attachments to Non-Default Models setting on the References tab.

What is the full version number of your RealDWG? Assuming you use RealDWG 2014, you can find that from your control panel (look for "Bentley V8i(SELECTseries 3) Autodesk RealDWG 2014").
I see RealDWG 2010, 2012, 2013 sp1.1 and 2014 are installed.
Full version number of RealDWG 2014 is 08.11.09.536
That is indeed a newer version in which we have made a change to save single sheet model as a layout model (paperspace in DWG) by default. We believe this to be the right choice, i.e. default design model in DGN maps to the Model in DWG and sheet model maps to a layout model. Would you mind to share with us your rational behind your need to save a sheet model as the modelspace model in DWG?
That said, you can set MS_DWG_SINGLESHEET_AS_MODELSPACE=1 to bring back the old behavior, i.e. to save your sheet model as the modelspace model.

I agree that the choice to change the default behaviour is a good one. It's logical.
In my case I have several long term projects where lots of DWG files have been transmitted in the past. Other people use these files as xrefs and as you can imagine that can get quite complex. So I wanted to continue to give files which are coherent with past transmissions.
The solution with the variable is perfect. I hate some things about Microstation, but I love the power of variables.
