v81 series 2

I have a client who's dgn file has stop displaying the drawing elements this morning. They state the drawing was fine the first time it was open and later when opening it, the drawing no longer displayed anything. I am getting the same results when I open the file. When viewing the levels display the drawings levels still show as being active and used in the drawing. I have looked at the level manager and the display column for the levels used are checked. I have tried edit>select all and nothing highlights in the drawing. Any ideas as what is wrong and how to correct is greatly appreciated.

  • I panicked, realised I'd turned off all the View toggles ...

  • View Toggle 1 was and is on now, still nothing showing in the drawing. I have now discovered somehow all of the elements had been grouped. I have ungrouped them and still no view in the drawing. When I now select a used level in the drawing using the element selection tool box I see it listed twice, once in dark blue the other in light grey. Hope that may help in some way. The users claims they only opened the drawing and was zooming around and closed it. Then when it was reopened nothing was being displayed in the drawing. I can’t help but think the user has done something. Would be hard to believe this just happened on its own.

  • What you describe with the level showing twice in Level Manager list box suggests that the elements are cells.

Try going to View Attributes and try to change the clip volume & clip front/back. You can also try to toggle the Displaysets attribute. Possibly tags attribute as well.

Otherwise, right click on one of the used levels in Level Manager go to properties and the the Usage tab. You should see a list of elements for that level. It's possible you have a file with multiple models. The active model may have nothing in it and the elements are contained in another model.

  • I have tried all below with no success. I have verified there is only one model, that is standard for our users. I did notice in the Element Information window prior to ungrouping all of the elements were showing a single cell.

  • Additional information. If I drop a cell or try drawing in something new this will not display either. When placing a cell I can see the cell until I set the data point and then it disappears.
