Hatching a 3D cone

Hi,

I would like to hatch a cone, nothing fancy.

I have had a look at the cone's properties and I have looked at both 'display type' & materials, but neither option seems appropriate. I have no knowledge on assigning materials yet (hopefully soon time I will have a look).

So, how would I do a simple cross hatch or circular hatch (to define the shape of it)?

Thanks

Matt

It looks like the hatching tools don't work with primitive solid elements (i.e. cones, cylinders etc.).

Were it possible to hatch a curved surface, such as a cone, what would you expect to see?

Materials come in handy for applying surface textures to 3D objects.  Visit the Visualization Forum for advice from the experts.

  • Thanks Jon. I would like the cone to look like a mesh, i.e. a series of profile lines to distinguish the shape. Maybe 10-20 lines.
  • Maybe Geometry Maps would help. Here a short Video:
