Acader users still using pen tables to avoid WYSIWG?

Ask you acader to show you where the hidden line is on the screen...

The converstation will end up like this

Acader " That it there !, are you blind ? "

You... "MAGENTA! is not a hidden line mate! its a colour! why not try using a line style ..."

You ... " But unless you print you cant tell what anything really looks like in acad!"

This thinking has been updated more than 10 years by autodesk but users just cant adapt or wont change their use of pen table correction...!

I can't see Autodesk interest in this kind of information shown to the public eh eh :)
But in my case, the old battle it's still very present as lots of my colleagues don't see eye to eye with methods used by Bentley to do things "this way" and not "other way"... Regardless I trying they have "Eyes Wide Shut"!

Would be interesting to see Adesk's version of the comparison, with points chosen to suit. I can't see, on Adesk's site, that they've deigned to produce one. Out on the internet, other comparisons are old (and don't go into Powerdraft and LT). Probably because everyone's using 'verticals' these days so the old battle of the 'vanillas' is uninteresting now.

Hi John,

in the post mentioned by Conor the most important differences are written. In general PowerDraft is 2D drafting tool: It allows to open and display 3D files, but 3D tools are not available.

What is not mentioned in the link is there is also a difference in customization: PowerDraft allows to create and run MicroStation VBA macros the same way as MicroStation, but it is not possible to run other type of applications (MDL C/C++, NET), because PowerDraft is locked. If there is a requirement to run such application in PowerDraft, BDN members can ask for unlocking password.

PowerDraft can use the existing MSTN workspace, there are something's though that will not work. If you have built customization that call MSTN commands that are not part of PowerDraft, these commands will not work. DGNlib's for Standards should be fine, text style, levels, dimension style, etc. VBA, Basic, and MDL's will not work.
