Indicator that the Raster Display is Toggled Off in all Views

Is there any Graphical Indicator in the Raster Manager (or anywhere else) that the Raster Display has been Toggled Off (or On)? with the "Raster Display Toggle" key-in?

I had an issue with a user that accidently had that key-in on their "F11" Function Key. It Toggled the Raster Display Off (in ALL Views) but the View indicator in the Raster Manager still showed the display as On for certain views.

The user thought they had "Raster Dialog Toggle" which would Toggle the Raster Manager dialog box mapped to the F11. Took me a while to figure it out why the user could not see the Raster!

  • Does the user have 1 raster image attached or multiple raster images attached? When I have multiple raster images attached and I have one of the raster images highlighted in Raster Manager and I do Utilities > Key-In > Raster Display Off all of the rasters no longer display. The raster image that was highlighted shows views 1-8 on and show blue. If I click on a raster image name in Raster Image then the views 1-8 show gray for the raster image that was originally highlighted. If I exit MicroStation and open the DGN again then all of the raster images display. The raster image display is no longer turned off. Can you tell me if that is the behavior that you are seeing? If not, can you tell me the steps that you are doing?

  • Hi fmcallis! Thanks for the e-mail & reply.

The user generally has several rather large images attached. Last time they had only one that they had turned on due to update lag (Remote & very large .sid image). You are correct that when the key-in is evoked, all the raster images no longer display. I click on the Already highlighted image name in the Raster manager dialog and it still shows as the image is on but clicking in the empty area of Raster Manager, then back on Image name shows Display is off in all views (not Gray (See image attached)) and you can't turn the image On using the View buttons in the dialog. Is true if you exit and re-enter file, the Image displays. This is not something you want to do often with the opening lag of 2-5 min. The user is very fast when explaining what was happening and I was lucky to catch them hitting the F11 key.

  • George,

With a single image you can have the raster image highlighted in Raster Manager and in Utilities > Key-In do Raster Display Off and the raster image no longer displays, but the raster views 1-8 buttons still show blue. You can click in the blank area in Raster Manager and the raster views 1-8 buttons turn gray. You are then unable to turn the views back on by clicking on the raster view number buttons. You can do Raster Display On and the raster image displays and you can click on the raster image name in Raster Manager and the raster view 1-8 buttons turn blue.

You can do Utilities > Key-In do Raster Display Off and the raster image no longer displays. You can exit MicroStation and then open the DGN file again and the raster image displays.

If you use IMGMANAGER DISPLAY SETOFF (SETON) you can select the view you want to turn off and on for a selected raster image filename. If a View Number or Filename is not specified then it defaults to the raster image that is displayed. If multiple raster images are attached then the raster image must be selected in Raster Manager that you want to turn the display off and on. The raster view 1-8 buttons remain blue for the views that have not been turned off. Using the IMGMANAGER DISPLAY option allows you to turn the view on by clicking the raster view button if it has been turned off and the raster image display that has been turn off will remained turned off when you exit the DGN file and then reopen it.

Would using the IMGMANAGER DISPLAY SETOFF (SETON) option work for what your user is trying to do?

    Thanks,

    Frank

  • Thanks for the help Frank!
The only problem I have is that the View Buttons (I can't see the gray you are talking about) It just looks like the display is off in All Views and I can't turn them on. There is no indicator the user can see, that the Raster Display has been Toggled Off for All views. I think there either needs to be an indicator in the Raster Manager dialog or that the View Buttons reflect the actual true display without having to go out of the way to refresh the Button Display. You can also add a Tool Tip when over the View buttons that the Raster Display has been turned Off. OR that there is a button at the bottom of the Raster Manager dialog (like Print, Transparent, Clip, Invert) that tells the user that the Raster Display has been turned off.
It's nice you can Toggle the Raster Display for All views without going into the Raster Manager dialog but there needs to be some indicator in the dialog.
When I posted here I initially thought I was missing a display indicator/cue. Now I guess I am requesting a Change Request. Just My Opinion!
    Thanks again!

  • George,

I have filed Defect # 149886 for the issues that we are seeing with the RASTER DISPLAY OFF and RASTER DISPLAY ON key-in commands.

    Thanks,
