DEFAULT LEVEL

Hello,

I am using Microstation V8i SS2.

I have a dgn file that contains some spot elevation data.  I want to turn this information off but when I list the level, they are on default.  The file is from my local DOT and I do not want to delete the borings.  When I go to the information dialog, the level is greyed-out.  What is the best way to control the visibility of these borings?

  • Here's one way to get the spot elevation data onto another level other than default. Set your level to 'Default' and turn on 'Level Lock'. Hold down your right mouse button and choose 'Select All'. Make sure on your 'Element Selection' tool that the 'Show Extended Settings' is on (the triangle should point up) Look at the 'Element Type' tab and deselect the elements you don't want (everything but text and/or text nodes?) using the filter. Put those elements you want to change on another level. This isn't the greatest explanation but I hope it helps a little.

  • right mouse click on the element and look at the pop up menu. There should be an option "level off". If you select this it should turn off the level. If it does not, make sure the default level is not the active level as you cannot turn off the active level.

FYI you can turn off the active level .. in workspace > prefs>operation> display active level all views (untick)

works great to set a level as active and off then start changing objects  moving to active level they disappear  helping you gauge how much is left to do or what has been done..

great way to fix bad level structured drawing from outside sources... or poor as builts...
