Coming from AutoCAD, I am kind of confused where hatch patterns are located in Microstation. Then, I realized that basic Microstation does not have any included hatch pattern files or cells save the standard single line or cross hatch.
Does anyone have, or do you know where I can get for free a cell library with standard-type hatch patterns? Things like concrete, honeycomb, sand, earth, metal cross section etc... ?
Thanks.

Hi Ivan, of course the library is included in MicroStation installation. If a simple hatch or cross hatch are not enough for your purpose, use Pattern Area tool and use e.g. areapat.cel library, which is located in ...\WorkSpace\System folder. In the mentioned folder (precisely told it's C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\WorkSpace\System\ or similar) more cell libraries are available, for patterning also some others like archpa.cel, or geompa.cel or igespats.cel can be used. With regards, Jan

I have that folder, but all sub folders under that are empty. No .cel or .dgn files (or otherwise) exist. This was installed via a corporate roll-out install, so I have no ability to set install options.
I've emailed our IT guys, but that could take days, if ever, for them to respond. Can you attach those default cell files here? Thanks.
Pattern cells can be in different locations. They are configured. If you can easily get to the configured cell-libs through the attachment dialog icon Folder History in the upper right corner. Save Settings. MicroStation is not a craft specific cad for civil, architecture etc. but rather generic. You can setup your own environment though. One of those could be configuring your own specific functions beyond the delivered. On the other hand there are MicroStation based applications that go craft specific way beyond and could save you from creating what already is available.
Erick,
The patterns, and a lot of other resources, are available "out of the box". If you just open MicroStation with the defaults the delivered AutoCAD pattern library is available with no navigation required. Once you start messing around with the configuration the default paths will change and then you have to start navigating to different folders.

It may be better for you to post any issues you have as a new discussion in the main MicroStation Forum. It would also be helpful to identify exactly what you are trying to perform in this new post along with some example files, screen captures and the software and version you are currently using.

If you think MicroStation is so bad you can cancel your contract with those clients and revert to working with SuperCAD.
