MICROSTATION-LINETYPE SYMBOLS

Hello,

I am using Microstation V8i SS2.

I have drawn some lines with a linetype according to my local DOT level control.  Some of the symbols in the linetype are upside down and some are partial symbols, see attached image.  How do I turn all symbols upright and eliminate partial symbols?

  • This is a two step  job,

First the top row can be fixed with the  modify linestyle icon ( already mentioned this week  this forum) and it will let you shift the symblol on the right a little towards the left until it looks complete...

if you cant find the icon its keyin is > modify linestyle icon  and choose the last icon on the right and drag until full shape is achieved.

Second bottom row,  you need to change the line direction  there is a tool for this under  modify curves or the keyin > change direction

follow the prompts and screen arrows...

  • Hi,

    in addition to Lorys' response:

When you are allowed to make changes to the line style definition:
to avoid symbols being placed partially, you could consider to untick the option: Clip Partial in the Point Symbol definition of your line style:

    Note:
Thoroughly test in a non-production environment firs as doing so, may affect the display of the corners of your connected elements like  line strings, complex chains and shapes,

  • I'm not sure, but I believe that if you set the Rotation (as shown in Henk's image) to Adjusted, it will keep the symbol (or Text) in an upright position no matter which direction the line is drawn.

  • Hi Bill,

    Thanks for pointing that out.
Indeed when you toggle the Rotation option to either Adjusted with the Angle set to 0 degrees, or Absolute (fixed angle to x-axis, ) the symbol will not rotate when placed in the current view.
Note that in case you rotate the view after the element with that line style is placed, it will rotate with the same view rotation angle.

Toggling that Rotation option together with un-ticking the Clip Partial option should work (provided you are allowed to make these changes to the line style definition).
