section callout in SS3

There is a standard drawing seed file delivered with MicroStation called DrawingSeed.dgnlib. This should be available in the Workspace System folder, the typical path would be.....C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\WorkSpace\System\dgnlib\  and typically pointed to by the MS_DGNLIBLIST variable. I am aware of the DrawingSeed.dgnlib and its location.  I have read the blog you refer to and seen the video, neither explain the lack of drawing seed options in the 'place section callout' dialogue that I am experiencing or how to retrieve them.  Also, I cannot find any step by step guide tying together issues like how to customize section callouts, the DrawingSeed.dgnlib, dynamic views and other related items.  I have looked at the diagram in help>drawing composition>dynamic views and although this is of some limited use it goes nowhere near far enough in explaining, using clear examples on issues on this topic.  I did however find this yesterday http://www.nclug.com/uploads/2/8/0/0/2800961/ms3wk4_optimizing_drawing_composition_workflows_-_steve_rick.pdf  but have not read it fully yet.  This article refers to a 'LEARN2013' project that I'm assuming was provided by Bentley for users to edit during a coference or webinar.  Is this 'LEARN2013' file available from Bentley?  It could be a great help in explaing issues in this area.

Hello Gary,

Okay, well regarding the lack of drawing seed options from the drop down box in the Place Section Callout dialog, there is a configuration variable that can be checked. Have a look in the menu Workspace > Configuration and see if the variable MS_DRAWINGSEED_LIBLIST is set or pointing to anything. If this was pointing to a file with no Saved View seeds and Models for example, the drop down box Drawing Seeds in Callout dialogs could show up as empty.

I have 2 entries in MS_DRAWINGSEED_LIBLIST (should I only have one? Are they used in any order?), one of them points to the directory with the supplied DrawingSeed.dgnlib in. The other (which is the first entry), points to the standards directory that contains 2 dgnlibs that have been created in our drawing office, both have save views.
When placing the section callout, the 'place section callout' dialogue opens, there are no seeds in the 'drawing seed' drop down but the 'create drawing' box can be ticked.

Strange that the 'Create Drawing' option can be ticked. If you proceed and place a section as an example, the Create Drawing dialog should pop up, does it give a file (dgnlib) name for either of the Seed Model fields in this dialog?

Is the MS_DRAWINGSEED_LIBLIST variable set up to point directly to the files or just to the folders?

Also, just for info, I am not sure if you have seen it or not, there is a section in the Help about this which gives more information which might help in understanding. If you go to the Search tab of the help and search "Drawing Seeds in DGN Libraries", see image attached...
