Combining large meshes

Question

I have two large meshes ( a bathymetry and a topography) that I would like to merge into a single mesh. I'm using v8i SS3. 
 I can stitch them together but there is a gap in the mesh where the two meshes didn't overlap. I've tried several methods of filling the gap most of which cause Microstation to crash. I've also tried to export the coodinates to then re-mesh, but no success. 
 Any suggestions?

Hi Ben, 
If the gap is an enclosed area you could try using the Close Mesh Voids command. 
 
You could also try using the Extract Boundary command to extract segments of the boundary of each mesh at the area of the gap. Use the boundary segments to create a mesh that fills the gap with the Mesh from Contours, Mesh from Points, or Mesh from Two Curves commands.
