USER PREFERENCES - LOOK AND FEEL - SINGLE CLICK - LOCKED

Using V8i SELECT series 3 Ver 08.11.09.459 and I cannot get SINGLE CLICK - LOCKED in user preferences LOOK and FEEL to stay locked on elements. ie to move an element more than once I have to select it before every move. Tried re-installing and tried different PC. I have read about others having this problem but have not seen any solution yet.

  • I have those settings  also esc key disable I have accudraw and accusnap set and my powerselector s default first  left top and first left bottom

I click once  on select tool then data point a  single element   highlights and hold the data Left mouse button down  to drag element where I want it. if I let go its still in  selection set so I can keep moving it..

If you cant do this then maybe Rmb menu ( select previous) until you work out why not working  or maybe a keyin on your favorite F key..

Maybe your user.upf  is corrupt  make copy and delete then restart mstn and let mstn  create new upf if still doesnt work  then delete new and restore old file or just set up the screen and pallets how you like  with nice new shiney upf file...

Before doing something that could very well be more problematic (i.e. deleting your user preference), is the user preference setting itself staying the same (i.e. Single Click: Locked)? Or is that changing? If it is staying the same, have you tried changing Preferences > Input > Click Sensitivity? Also, are you using MicroStation without any add-on applications?

  • OK, I'm going to ask a very basic question. Just what does that switch do? I looked it up in Help but had a hard time until I realized the setting was only if the setting for the Default tool (below Single Click setting) is "None". If set to "Selection" it didn't work as stated in Help.
I think Neil would see a difference if the Default Tool setting was set to "None" instead of the "Selection" tool. It would stay on the last tool used instead of going back to the "Selection" tool.
If the Default tool is set to "None" it all works as stated in the Help
Single-shot — you can select a tool for single-shot operation with a single click, or you can double-click it to select and lock the tool.
Locked — you can select and lock a tool with a single click, or you can double-click it to set it for single-shot operation.
Someone please tell me if this is wrong or incorrect.

  • Phil,

  • Thanks for the call Neil. I have tried the operation you mentioned in MicroStation /J and can see that when you perform a Move of an element it retains a hold on the element, similar to the Copy operation. Testing this in MicroStation V8.5 and V8i it does not operate in the same manner. From what I remember there was a fundamental change in the basis for the operation of the Move tool compared to the Copy tool. Setting the Default Tool to None, rather than the Selection tool, is not the Workspace Preference that changes the operation of the Move tool. I will have to have a closer look at other Preferences or maybe old configuration variables that may have changed this back to its old operation.
