Levels manager dialog box opening automatically - MicroStation V8i (SelectSeries2)

How do I get the Levels Manager dialog box to stop opening automatically when I open MicroStation?  I solved this once about 3 years ago and cannot for the life of me remember how I did it!  Can someone please remind me?  Thanks!!

  • Any dialog box that is opening up "automatically" when MicroStation is first opened would have to have been saved to the User Preference File (UPF). If you click on the (X) in the top right of the dialog to Close it and then perform a Save Settings, this should then stop it from appearing. If this is not saving these settings then it is most likely related to your Read+Write permissions for your login account. You should check that you can write to the file and folder where your UPF file is stored. By default this would be:

    C:\Users\{Windows UserID}\AppData\Local\Bentley\MicroStation\8.11\...........\prefs\

    I hope this information is of assistance.

  • Hello,
    In order to find your user preferences file location for MicroStation :
    1. Open MicroStation with any file and open MicroStation’s Key-in panel (Utilities->key-in)
    2. Type the following string in MicroStation’s key-in panel and press enter:
    $ % explorer $(_USTN_HOMEPREFS)
    3. This will open your user preferences folder in windows explorer
    You can then check if this file has full read/write access.

  • I apologize for the delayed response. I tried this and nothing happened. I contacted my IT dept and they were messing with our workspaces. They seemed to have fixed the problem now though. Thank you for you help.
