The daily frustration: AccuDraw seems to control more than just drawing. If I place text, the relative angle that it goes in at is apparently controlled by the AccuDraw settings. AccuDraw keeps reverting to Auxiliary rotation (Settings>AccuDraw, Coordinate tab), instead of View, which is where I have set it about a million times by now.
Alt-F does nothing for me.
How do I get this setting to stay where I put it?
Hi David,The AccuDraw settings are stored in the active user preference file .upf.When that .upf file is read-only, shared with other colleagues (on a network drive), or for whatever reason is broken, you will not be able to properly save the changes. Please check if you do have full access to that file and that it is not shared with your colleagues (who can override the settings you have changed). If you have full access, it could well be that the file is broken maybe because of a crash of your operating system or of MicroStation. The location of that file can be found via Workspace>Configuration. Look for variable: MS_USERPREF.When you are in that window, I suggest you also look at the variable: MS_USERPREFSEED. If there is a definition for it, please check that that file is not based on an older version of MicroStation (the date of the file may be an indication that it is).Once you have found the location, exit MicroStation and rename or remove that file and start MicroStation again. Before starting MicroStation, it is not a bad idea to also clean up your MicroStation TEMP folder (MS_TMP), just to make sure that files saved in that location are not causing problems.Upon the restart, MicroStation will check if there is a seed preference file (MS_USERPREFSEED) and make a copy of that to be your new user preference file, or in case there is no definition, automatically create a new preference file with default settings. When you have a dgn file open again, check that the settings for AccuDraw will save by using File>Save Settings.

Not to belabor this, but something else to consider regarding user preferences... Think you have a problem caused by a UPF? Not so fast...
double sigh. I was wrong. the only reason that AccuDraw settings were sticking is that it was turned off (it'd be nice to be able to tell with button shading or some other kind of indicator when AccuDraw is turned on or off - I can only tell by placing a line or something). I turned AccuDraw on (after noticing that it was off when I wanted to place a horizontal line) and it is again reverting to always being set to Auxiliary, even before I can begin the place line command. text and lines are rotating that way by default also. The text is rotating to the ACS no matter what AccuDraw is set to. Lines allow AccuDraw guidance but are aligned to the ACS. man, I need to get some production instead of constantly tracking this stuff down.
