Help with stretch command

Hi

I currently have created a title block which is a 8.5"x11" at a scale of 1:1 (see dgn drawing).

I have been trying for awhile now to make this a 11"x17" landscape drawing at a scale of 1:1 using the stretch and scale and various commands to make this work but nothing is working. Can someone help me make this and explain to me how they did this so I can learn.

Any help would be appreciated..

  • Looking at the design file you supplied and measuring the outer block of the "title block" it has a height of 8.5 feet and a width of 11 feet, true scale. Did you want to rescale this "title block" to have a height of 11 inches and width of 17 inches or would this be in feet? Maybe you could clarify the correct measurements and orientation so a solution could be supplied for your query. Did you also want to rescale the text in this "title block" or maybe alter the size after you have made the changes to the elements?

The following video shows how I would perform this using the Manipulate Fence Contents tool with the Scale option method by 3 Points.

  • Forgive me Andrew if you covered this in the video but windows said it would take 45 mins to open ... I couldnt  wait that  long..

This is  how I would solve your problem

First  off I would not  do it with scaling as its disproportionate  X & Y so your text  will be ruined

Draw a rectangle the size you actually  need 11 x 17  with common point Lower Left Corner..

Now you can see  how much now need to stretch the original frame  in the Y direction so only  fence  ( clip fence) the  top over lap of your original frame then use fence stretch manipulate fence clip  data point  left top corner  of frame and data point top left corner of new 11x17 frame now it  is correct  in y plane  ie vertically..

now decide what needs to be stretched in the x plane  and use the same technique only  dont  fence every thing just where you want the stretch clip to overlay  and everything clipped by the fence will stretch in the x direct by two data points  on inside the fence the  other the new frame .. this is easier if you use a temporary 11 X 17  polygon as you dont need to calculate anything and no rounding off errors

if you made the temporary frame on a  unique level you can then delete it easier...

  • Hello,
Thanks for your video after trying your suggestion and yes the original attachment was in the wrong scale it should have been in inches.
After trying your suggestion the text was distorted a lot and was not legiable.
Since I am new to this stretch command if you have time can you attached a 11"x17" and 24"x36" dgn drawing for me.
    Thanks

  • Hello,
Thanks for your reply. My original attachment was in the wrong scale it should have been in inches. What you say is exactly the problem I had with the scale command the text was not legiable. After trying your suggestion a couple of times it never seems to work correctly.
Can you create the 11"x17" and 24"x 36" dgn drawing for me.Thanks
