Removing colinear points on a line string?

You may have found a way to get your result, but for future, one other other option you could have a look at is the Move/Copy Parallel tool and see if that suits your situation. In the Tool Settings dialog that opens, set;

• Mode to Miter
• Distance to zero
• (Enable 'Make Copy' if you don't wish to delete original)

Select the element in question and click in view to accept. Now (if you copied) use the Move tool to move the newly created element and compare with the original. 

Before trying, choose a different colour and enable 'Use Active Attributes' in the Tool Settings dialog so you can see the difference between new and old.

is this really  supposed to work like this or is it a happy coincidence that its a useful bug...?

20 years and I  never  notice this!
