Bug in Move/Copy Code - Not Honoring Graphic Group

I like the fact that with the Move and Copy tool, I can move individual or multiple by generating an on-the-fly selection box. However, since Move and Copy when use as an individual element tool definitely honor Graphic Group lock, shouldn't the on-the-fly selection box also honor it? Especially when it is a crossing window? I was trying to move a revision cloud, drawn with a rectangular shape using a treeline linestyle, with a leadered note but the crossing selection window located the rectangle and the dimension leader but did not also select the note portion.

  • Enhancement Request # 250602 has been raised to the software development team to request this operation be included in a future release. If you would like to be notified of any updates it would be helpful if you could log a new Service Request and we can link this new Enhancement to it.

    ----------------------------------------

    Description:

Move / Copy tools should take into account elements in Graphics or Named Groups

Using the Move / Copy tool individual or multiple elements can be selected to be used with the Element Selection fence. If the selection fence is placed from the bottom right to top left it is classed as a fence selection using the overlap option. If a number of the elements in this overlap selection are within a Graphics Group then this is not taken into account. This is also the case if using a fence with overlap turned on. It is requested that elements in Graphics or Named Groups be taken into account with any Element Selection in the Move and Copy tools. (see attached video)

  • TFS (for Team Foundation Server) is the technology we are using internally to track defects and enhancements (among other things).

  • I have located an old CR#127195 which seems to be related to what you have described but specifically when the Use Fence option is selected. I should think that the Element Selection method should operate in the same manner. I have tested this both using the Fence with Overlap and the Element Selection method and can confirm that it does not seem to consider those elements with a Graphics or Named Group. I will check further to ensure this has been properly raised in a TFS Enhancement.

    Description
User would like the Copy and Move tools to take into consideration the entire graphic group when the Use Fence option is toggled on if the fence only overlaps a portion of the graphic group.

  • Move/Copy now have an AutoCAD like capability, where if you select the tool and click/drag beginning at a point not on an element, a selection window is created. If you drag in one direction, it is an inside selection, if you drag in the other, it becomes a crossing/overlap window. So I thought, that if graphic group lock was on, the move/copy commands would honor graphic groups if you selected via a selection window just like it does when used in the traditional pick on an element mode. At the very least, I thought since I was using the crossing selection window, it would select all members of the graphic group if at least one member was selected.
