Help With Command Level: Set Target

I agree.  There are two mystifying items in the Change Level tool settings, described a little too concisely in MicroStation help:

• Set Target — Set the target level for the display of the selected level(s)
• Set Active — Set the active level for the display of the selected level(s)

I found a little more detail about change level-> level: set target

Basically when you use a Fence to select your elements and you use set change level tool and set level as set target, this will make the selected element part of a Display Set.

How did you load this dialog. Is this the change level key-in/command. Please also mention which version of MicroStation.

Hi Stewart,

These two selections are both working for Change Level in Level Display dialog.
When we invoke Level Display dialog and click Change Level tool icon, this tool setting dialog comes up.

If Use Fence is OFF, this tool allow us to do something associated with level display by selecting element from the view.
For example, when we set it as "Set Target", and we select an reference element (assume an attachment is attached), then in the Level Display target tree, we can see the Reference node is high lighted (selected).

If Use Fence is ON, then means we can highlight (select) file node in the target tree by clicking fence in the view.

The "active" setting is quite similar, we can set a levels as Active Level through selecting an element in the view.

I loaded this by right clicking and selecting Level Off and than selected Set Target from the drop down menu.

I am currently using MS SS3 Version 08.11.09.459
