Microstation CONNECT won't install

As the heading states. I can't install CONNECT.

The first time I tried, it found the beta, and asked me to uninstall it. I did that and tried again.

I set a custom location for the files to install to. It failed with the attached log file.

Why ?

  • Michael, have you tried installing to default location?

From installation log - Error 0x80070020: Failed to.. ; Do you have an older version of 'CONNECTION client' installed on this machine (having it installed with MicroStation beta)? And maybe the CONNECITON client program is running in taskbar while you installing MicroStation? If you have it, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features and uninstall 'CONNECTION client', then try to install MicroStation again.

Also, do you have Write Access to those folders you want to install?

I did have the old CONNECTION client running. I uninstalled it and now I can install CONNECT.

I have installed it in a custom location "C:\Bentley-CONNECT-64\, with a custom Workset "C:\Bentley-CONNECT-64\Default"

The only directory here is the Microstation directory with the Configuration directory here "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\CONNECT Edition\Configuration"

The problem now is that it can't see the examples, and as in a previous post, my custom directories were not created. If I try to create a new Workset (C:\Bentley-CONNECT-64\Default), it comes up with an error "Template file was not found".

And if I try to brouse for a file, I get "C:\Bentley-CONNECT-64\Worksets\No Workset\Dgn Path does not exist "

Has anyone else had these problems ?

  • Michael,

The Custom Configurations assumes you are pointing to or creating a configuration that is fully functional. If the location you pointed is not functioning I would recommend that you install it to defaults once, and then set up a configuration from there. All subsequent installs can be pointed to the working configuration.
