This started in the EAP forum but could someone at Bentley confirm when the steel utility is to be upgraded to work with CONNECT?

You've already told us, in a previous post, that your organisation is unlikely to upgrade to CONNECT in the foreseeable future. You can carry on using MicroStation V8i and the steel utility without losing sleep over its absence in CONNECT.

In my opinion simply recompiling old code so people can continue do things the old way would be counter productive. If they do a steel utility is should be done with a parametric cell library.

If by that you mean by making CONNECT more efficient and productive by getting rid of the overlong key combinations to start tools, then yes you are right.

The Steel Utility has been around for a while now as a free tool that can do some very basic operations. I would think if anyone was wanting to get into more complex functionality they would have a look at the software products we already produce like Prostructures, Prosteel, etc.
