Connect - Parametric cells, what level?

i would also like an answer to this. i have created a parametric cell with components set to different levels (actually different templates), and when i place that cell it does not appear that the placed cell respects these settings. ie it defaults to the active level in the model.

anyone know of a way around this?

hi, I'm not working on Microstation Connect version yet, but in SS3 I had experience, my assumption would be: the rules for levels in DDCells and normal cells goes like this: when you create the normal or parametric cell make all elements on default level, in active properties DO NOT USE ByLevel! use 'local'-any colour, line style and line thickness. when you start using place cell command, before you do, set desired active level and all the property that you want your cell to have, then place the cell. to make sure it works, check the property of the cell in Element Information. otherwise try use create cell with ByLevel other than default, please let me know how you went

i think that it doesnt work.  or at least does not work how I would have hoped it to.

the attached image illustrates what i am looking for.

in this case i have set up a parametric stair tread which has a concrete tread, a screed and a tile finish.  they all need to have different properties.  not just levels but also cut patterns, and materials (in order to get the tile geometric pattern).

so if it is the case that i cannot do this, then parametric cells will not be of much use, as i will need to create each piece of the assembly as a separate cell (and i could do that with basic geometry)

mmm it is a challenge... try then to assign everything to ByLevel and try, if it is not working again you have to ask for support and see what Bentley say... sorry I tried regards

Mine are also not taking on the Active ByLevel line weight.
