Mouse click sensitivity

In both the final version of V8, and now with the Connect Edition, I've experienced a tendency for my mouse to be hypersensitive to clicking.  In other words, it seems to double click, especially when I use the middle button to snap to an end point, or if I'm simply drawing a continuous line without using snaps.  I often have to draw a fence around an irregular shaped object, and after using the middle button to snap on an endpoint, the mouse will almost instantaneously place another fence corner as I'm moving to the next point.  I have to hit undo, then go on.  Perhaps just as frustrating, is the fact that it doesn't do it every time.  I may do several points without issue, then all of a sudden I can't do two in a row without undoing the extra points, then it settles down and lets me do several more without issue.  I've changed the mouse I use, and it happens on both my work and home computer.  I also use Autocad, and don't experience any "double click" issues with it.  I know there's a setting for how long I have to hold the right button before a drop down menu appears, but is there a setting for the left and middle button sensitivities?

  • Have you tried changing the Workspace > Preference > Input > Click Sensitivity setting from normal to slow?

  • That may have turned the trick. I have a star shaped cell that I regularly mask out an image from behind it, requiring 16 angle points in all. I just went around it three or four times with the fence tool, with nary a double click. I thank you very much, while kicking myself for not seeing and trying that option.

    hey Mike,

May I suggest you make a new cell with  a copy of the outline  as a polygon then from the element  properties turn on the Fill and make it  co=BG ( colour 255) then move the  the rest of the cell on top of this  save it and name  your  cell to include the word Mask ( so you'll remember what it does)  this will now mask anything you place it on top off no longer needing  clipping of raster or fences  etc much quicker and easier... colour BG is  a strange thing it is the same colour as the paper ie no ink and acts as a mask when used ie polygons or text with back ground = BG...
