CONNECT - Text editor

I have two issues with the manner it is working for me.  With previous versions, when editing text that's already in the drawing, I often hit the "Insert" key on my keyboard and overtyped whatever was was written before.  That is apparently not an option now, because the Insert key has no effect on the Text Editor.  The other issue is the disappearance of the ability to change the text width, independent of the text height, while in the text editor.  It's not something I need to do often, but having it in the text editor was quicker, and had the ability to change a single line or word, as opposed to going through the Properties tool box which affects the entire text block.

As with any new generation software release, the solutions to my problems may be there, but I just haven't stumbled across them yet.

  • Another user had reported this issue where the Insert Key does not toggle the option of overwriting existing text in the Text Editor for MicroStation CE. See the following videos showing the difference between V8i and CE.

Defect # 539411 has been raised for this issue which will be evaluated by our software developers.

    MicroStation V8i

    MicroStation CONNECT Edition

  • I really would like this issue resolved, it was the first thing I noticed after upgrading from an eight-year-old version of V8i to the current connect version. I hunted all around the settings and variables to no avail before coming here. I don't want to have to delete first, one word, then retype; I just want to type over it.

  • If you double-click a work it will highlight that word and then typing will replace that word.  Also, double-clicking a word and then moving left or right will highlight whole words.  Granted I know that isn't the issue being resolved but it works pretty well.
