MICROSTATION-TEXT SPACING

Hello,

I am using Microstation V8i SS2.

I am new to Microstation and trying to understand certain details concerning text.  I have been working with the text editor and notice that whenever I add a space between text, sometimes I get a "1/64" and sometimes not.  Also, spacing in the finished text appears odd, like larger than required spaces between text sometimes.  What does the "1/64" mean and how do I get more even spacing between text?

  • Very possible this is font specific, but can provide the font resource file that has the "font001" font?

I found this in another discussion where this was brought up:

MS_WORD_PROCESSOR_DISPLAY_RSC_USING_DEFAULT_FONT is kind of a failsafe mechanism, so it's not listed as a normal configuration variable. You can either manually define it in the CFG file of your choice, or you can go to Workspace > Configuration, click the New button, and define it to, for example, 1 (a generic value typically used when it only matters that something is defined, not what it's actually defined as).

Setting this variable might workaround the issue but also I was wondering which version of Internet Explorer you both are using.

  • I've used that variable in the past. For our DOT, they redefined characters such as \ for CL, [ for +/-, etc, so you lose that in the editor. The placed text still works, though.

I don't have the 1/64 issue in our current config using SS3. Using SS1 and the old, replaced config will produce that in the editor, as shown in the previous screen shot. That config was such a mess, I don't even want to try to dig through it to figure out if a setting caused the issue.

    Current IE 11.0.9600.18053

I attached the ADOT fontlib if you wish to fiddle with it.
