[CE] - Search Element By ID

Hi Jose,

I disagree with an idea to change a functionality of the existing key-in. "Analyze element" key-in always, for the whole MicroStation history, has opened the former Element Information dialog. In my opinion it's bad idea to change this functionality.

On the other hand I agee it would be nice to have the same functionality available for Properties dialog also. Now a workaround "dialog properties open;select byelemid <elem id>" can be used, but maybe one key-in can be implemented instead of these two?

There is a small difference between old Element Information dialog and the new Properties dialog: If "analyze element" key-in is used, the information is displayed without adding the element into selection set. Properties dialog can display the information about elements in selection set only.

I agree, and the little detail from the difference of the selection set from one dialog to the other is a great tip.

Even better would be to implement this little difference into Properties that way former Element Information could be considered legacy.

Hello, you can use VBA !
Direct from keyin with ID 198076:
vba execute ActiveModelReference.SelectElement ActiveModelReference.GetElementByID(DLongFromString("198076"))

Also you can use a Funckey Key:
vba execute ActiveModelReference.SelectElement ActiveModelReference.GetElementByID(DLongFromString(InputBox("","ID")))

You can fill in the ID in Inputbox...

...the Element is selected and Properties in "NEW" Info Dialog.

Hi Axel,

even if I agree VBA is very useful tool, I see no reason to use pretty complex key-in syntaxt to call VBA method when standard key-in "select byelemid <elem id>" is available in CONNECT Edition.
