CONNECT - link problem

I have s sheet model with a floor plan referenced in. This floor plan has areas identified with additional information on other sheet models. These areas have links attached which take you to the other sheet models. Two out of the three links that I have made (note that these were originally done in SS3) work OK but one doesn't, and has a different icon. This icon is different in SS3. The pop up for the link shows the correct sheet model, but the follow link fails. any ideas?

  • I have noticed this exact same issue in a file I'm using. Links that were created and work in SS4 do not work in CONNECT even though they are showing as still pointing to the correct place. So many bugs in CONNECT that still aren't fixed.

  • I had forgotten about this thread until now. Assume that you tried the links when using CEU6. Will check this tomorrow.

  • Yes I am currently using CEU6. Something else I noticed, when I make a new link the link icon doesn't show up until I reload the file. If I hover over the element I have attached the link to, it shows that the link is there, but there is no marker until I reopen the file.

  • Hi Stuartw and Ryan,

I tested your dataset and found following stuff,

I think you have changes Model Type to Sheet of model "9018(2)24". Please change model type to Design, follow link will work. You can change model type from model property dialog box. you can check attached video for more details.

Now difference in V8i and Connect is that if we change model type in V8i, follow links works correctly but it does not work in Connect.

The reason behind it is in connect follow link is not supported if the model type is changed.

Please let us know if you have any specific case or business case where you need to change model type.

    Thanks

  • Sounds like a bug in CONNECT getting confused about the model type when going from SS4 to CONNECT for some reason then. I can't just go change Sheet models to Design models when they need to be Sheet models for page numbering. I've just been deleting bad links and re-creating them.

Why should your customer have to justify the need to fix a behaviour that was inadvertently changed in CONNECT?  Is it not reasonable to expect that CONNECT should work the same way as V8i?
