I am having issues with Microstation failing to open a DGN file. It comes up with the 'Error opening file [FILEPATH.dgn] = (0x13013)'. It crashed when I was trying to open one of sheets that I have created. The following log is taken from the Event Viewer when Microstation crashed. Please advise on how to recover these files. I have attempted to open previous versions of this file through Windows explorer but the same error came up. So now it seems like I have to start my work all over again. Urgently needs advise. Thanks.

Hi Ryn, Recovering a DGN file is a task that does not always yields positive results. It is suggested to have always backups of all working files. To potentially recover the file, please provide the following information: - Was this file opened from a network drive? - What was the environment (local machine OS, server OS, etc.)? Please provide the following files: - The file that is resulting in the errors above. - A backup of the file in question. - The workstation's Exception history: -The machine's system and application event logs. To get the exception history, review this article http://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/8832.how-to-quickly-find-and-collect-exception-logs-and-minidump-files) 1.Open a good file. 2. Key-in: $ % "$(ms_tmp)" 3.Gather entire "ExceptionHistory" folder. (Typically there will be 5 folders, but there could be more; please send all of them). To get the system and application logs: 1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer 2. Expand "Windows Logs" (in XP: "Event Viewer (Local)”) folder. 3. Right-click on "Application" and select "Save All Events As…" (in XP: "Save Log File As..."). 4. Give it a name 5. Save it in the evt or evtx file format 6. Repeat steps #3, #4, and #5 for "System". Notes: - DO NOT rename the DGN file. **This will make it hard to locate patterns related to this file in the exception history. - ZIP all the contents. *This is important to maintain file integrity during the e-mail trip

Hi Ryn :
The doc file header seems to be corrupted. I checked the exception and MicroStation version being used is 08.11.07.443. Please check this link which lists out some known issues and available workarounds.
We recommend to upgrade to the latest version in this series which is MicroStation V8i (English) 32-bit 08.11.09.459. A 64bit version MicroStation CONNECT Edition x64 (English) 10.00.00.25 is also released.
