Hello,
I need to reattach multiple xrefs, maybe 10 per drawing, with 1000 or more drawings.
The xrefs display red, and simply right clicking and reloading doesn't work, it says file does not need to be reloaded.
Is there a way to re attach multiple xrefs quickly?
Should the xrefs be contained in the same folder as the dwgs? this is the current set up I think, the xrefs are contained as multiple copies in each particular drawing type folder, not a separate xref folder.
Previous offices I have worked in have had a separate xref folder, with the path specified.
Should the xrefs be in separate folder and a path specified? If so how do I do this?
when I reattach them, do I pick
coincident
coincident world
or interactive?
what scale?
thanks in advance
Andre
LOTS of Questions and many of the questions depend on what you are doing and what procedure you want to follow. There can be several answers to each question. That's why you have all of those options. If the references display Red in the dialog, that means the references are attached, it's just, MicroStation doesn't know where to find them. If you place all the files in a single folder and that folder is the same one your file is in, MicroStation can find them. This is not a good way to work but it works . But what happens if you want to organize or you have several files with the same name with different graphics. That's why there is a Configuration Variable "MS_RFDIR" You can place this variable in the Project configuration file (.PCF) and point it to several locations. M-Sta. will look thru those locations in the order you set, until it finds the file with that name, and that's the one it will display. You can also set Variables, Point the variables to a specific location, then attach the References using those variables.
I Hope This Helps Someone Reading This! (Intergraph>PseudoStation>MicroStation user since 1980's)

You mention XRefs and DWG files, but you don't mention any Bentley product.
Tell us what version of MicroStation you are using.

MS_RFDIR (spelling is important)
Thanks for the correction Jon!
I made the Correction from MS_REFDIR to MS_RFDIR
