Tags to text

Are you referring to this support solution article:

Both methods prescribed there should work.

You should be able to pre-select the text with the "CHANGE TAGS DROPTEXT" or issue the keyin and then select the text.

Using the Fence Freeze, make sure the method for the Fence Mode is set to "Inside"

If these do not work on your file(s) providing a sample file demonstrating the problem might be helpful.

maybe at fir you should provide a bit more information like MicroStation version (build number), type of design file (DGN V7, V8, DWG) or at the best case some example file. Are tags attached to normal elements or are they e.g. inside cells?

Yes...that is exactly the key-in command I was using. By the way I forgot to mentioned that the cad file I was using was a conversion from AutoCAD. Most probably the tags were created in AutoCad. Will that be the problem?

Microstation V8i version 08.11.09.655. Tags are NOT inside cells. The file must be a conversion from AutoCAD so I assumed that the tags were created in AutoCAD.

I think the conversion file from AutoCAD was the problem. I saved the DGN file to DWG format and open the DWG file in Microstation. Applied the same key-in commands you just mentioned and it works. Not sure how the file was converted from AutoCAD to Microstation in the beginning and why I can't apply the same key-in commands to drop the TAGS to Text.
