Reference wont display after closing file

I have created a model that has all of my line work in it called MASTER. Then I create a NEW model and reference the MASTER file. It shows up and works fine. But when I close my NEW model, and re-open it, my MASTER reference is red. Then I have to re-attach it. This happens with every attachment in my NEW model.

The NEW model, and the MASTER are in the same folder on my server.

I have tried the "Save Relative Path" option when I am attaching the MASTER, but after I select "Open", the reference doesn't come through. It says "File not found".

The odd thing is that I have an aerial image referenced in .dgn format that does stay referenced when I close. It is two folders up from where the MASTER and NEW models are on the server.

I have tried "Save Settings".

What the heck am I missing here?

If the master and the reference are in the same folder, then (as I imagine you're expecting) MicroStation should find the reference.  You should not need to "Save Relative Path" or anything else.

What is the definition of configuration variable MS_DEF?  Is it pointing to the folder on your server where those files are located?
