I have created a model that has all of my line work in it called MASTER. Then I create a NEW model and reference the MASTER file. It shows up and works fine. But when I close my NEW model, and re-open it, my MASTER reference is red. Then I have to re-attach it. This happens with every attachment in my NEW model.
The NEW model, and the MASTER are in the same folder on my server.
I have tried the "Save Relative Path" option when I am attaching the MASTER, but after I select "Open", the reference doesn't come through. It says "File not found".
The odd thing is that I have an aerial image referenced in .dgn format that does stay referenced when I close. It is two folders up from where the MASTER and NEW models are on the server.
I have tried "Save Settings".
What the heck am I missing here?
does this happen all the time now on all files or just these 2 .. if just these 2 then upload them here for analysis.
or just build two brand new files and see if it reoccurs....

I can find nothing wrong with your files, I was able to self ref your model into your sheet file, I was able to ref either models to each other .. however a lot of ref files are missing
and I assume the missing photo.dgn has a raster ( air photo) attached to it via the raster manager not the ref manager.. then it in turn is attached as aref file in the ref manager with NESTING set to on at least 1 deep..
I have refed each into each other and also attached the model to the sheet and left it that way for you to look at...
I think the issues are work flow related if you have any coworkers more experienced with mstn let them watch your work flow and see whats happening..

Thank you for all of your help. I have looked over the links, and I think I am referencing correctly. the MS_RFDIR is set to the folder I am working in, and all of the files I am referencing are located in the same file, with exception to a Title block reference. Unfortunately I don't have a co-worker that I can consult as I am the one tasked to producing this project with MS. I do have specific .pcf and .ufc files to work with, and I am wondering if the miscommunication stems from there. Here is my debug file. msdebug.zip
