V8i SS4 wont start!!

I have downloaded and installed SS4, which has un-installed SS3 as prt of this but SS4 wont start. I have clicked the icon a number of times but nothing starts. Th wheel spins fro a biit but then stops. NOTHING HAPPENS!!

What am I supposed to do now as I have drawings to get out. Have to say that this is very frustrating and most disappointing!!

  • First rule of software upgrades... Don't install them on a production computer, especially when you are under a production deadline. If you don't have a test computer to work with then wait until you have some slack in your schedule.

To address your immediate problem go through Control Panel->Uninstall to remove MicroStation. After it's done remove any left over files under C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries). Then reinstall MicroStation V8i SS3.

After your drawings are out and you have some time in your schedule go through the same process to remove MicroStation V8i SS3, then install MicroStation V8i SS4 and test it out.

  • Stuart,

Before clicking on icon please open the task manager. Could you verify that the ustation.exe is appearing in your task manager when clicking on the MicroStation SS4 icon?

All that may be true but SS4 is a commercial release and therefore assumed to work out the box,

I will check later when back in the office.
