Hi people.
Was talking about the Connect interface with and old work mate from previous office.Looks like both agree. Ribbon interface is a catastrophic decision.
Personally, I've really felt disconnected with Bentley's vision on how MS should evolve, I love MS, SS3 is like a Ferrari tunned for race so don´t think I'm here for Autodesk fanboyism.
I got into MS after Acad swtiched to Ribbon. I loved Bentley systems because its unique approach to engineering soft with supper serious and practical interfaces, super powerfull design environment, great 3d modelling tool, the keyboard shorcuts that allow you to super quickly change tools etc...
I could not believe Bentley would EVER switch to Ribbon. I'm so dissapointed. What do you people think? you like it?.
An absolute disappointment. I have been working with Microstation for more than 30 years and defending it against AutoCAD. Is it time to change software? I can not waste time finding out how tools have been placed now, my clients can not afford it. Who has decided which is my workflow, some Microsoft worker? A big BENTLEY mistake. By the way, I still use the "MAIN CLASSIC" menu. All utilities in one, small and accessible menu. Goodbye to comfort.
I've yet to install CE and it will be for a long time before I consider doing so judging by the number of complaints I constantly read. I don't mind ribbon interfaces per se but I would prefer to go back to using neither ribbon or task interfaces. If I had a spare £650 I would get myself one of these:
I used to own a Summagraphics 1812HR digitising tablet and it was only due to no longer being able to buy the pucks that I had to embrace the task interface and learn to draw with a mouse. Of course its now like 2nd nature due to a customised task interface but nothing beats the tablet for maximum screen real estate, speed of drawing and the absolute freedom of designing your own tools interface and not be forced to adapt to Bentley's latest GUI development direction.

I use the 80 keyboard with MicroStation keys. Not as efficient as the old digitizer menus, but wat faster than ribbons or task
you can program the keyboard so that it is program specific and or to be global ( like delete ) commands that will work in all programs

Hi Kirk,
Here's a utility that lets you do the same thing with most any spare usb or wireless keyboards that you may have laying around.
Multi-Keyboard MACROS by MediaChance
Regards,Ron
THAT LOOKS INTERESTING. i COULD HAVE SAVED SOME MONEY. i HAVE SPARE KEYBOARDS HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE
RON , Do you have a NY sample code for MicroStation
Kirk,I haven't personally tried it yet. The developer has some other amazing software that I have tried, so I always keep an eye on his site. I thought the Multi-Keyboard MACROS might come in handy sometime.
