Cursor Crosshair Turned Black Colour

Question

Hi, 
 As the title, my cursor's crosshair has changed to a blck colour making it impossible to see. 
 I have tried using key in: set xor to change the colour but it does nothing. 
 Any ideas?

What is your current background color and which version of MicroStation are you running? 
 
Try changing your color table and see if the same issue occur.

Hi Sarah, To me this sounds like a videocard / monitor driver issue. Have you checked already for monitor drivers for that specific monitor in combination with the Windows version you are using? 
 Should it be a video card issue, check if new drivers are available, or let windows try and do that: uninstall existing drivers first, then restart your laptop/pc. Upon startup, windows will automatically start searching for a driver and if found, install it. 
 Should updating the driver fail, see if forcing your system to use DirectX9 instead of DirectX11 helps to address this behavior. To force DirectX9, for V8i you will need to set the variable: QV_D3DVERSION = 9 
 For the CONNECT Edition, set: QV_DISABLE_D3D11 = 1

You are correct. I have this issue running Microstation on laptop but displaying it on large screens. The monitor screens can be nudged back to working properly by selecting the copy view command on the laptop. Cursor will go back to being white on big screens as well. Don't know how long it lasts but this has worked for me.

 Yes i'd also moved to windows 10 
 Bentley took a a couple of months to get back to me on this issue. by this time the company had replaced my laptop and our in house IT had changed my screen resolution as a work around. not a perfect fix but workable. 
 i hope this info may help

I just helped out a co-worker with this same problem and tried several of the suggestions in this thread. The thing that fixed her problem was changing her screen resolution from 150% to 125% and then doing a complete shutdown of the laptop. When she restarted the laptop and MicroStation, she could see her cursor once again!!!!

I do believe I have found the solution for the black cursor over black background. This only started doing this to me today so I am certain the problem is fixed long term 
 Open View Attributes settings (Ctrl+B) 
 Click the settings icon next to Display Style 
 
 In the Display Styles window, select the style you are working with on the left and then change the Background color setting on the right to black. 
 
 I am not sure what caused this setting to change all of a sudden but it may have something to do with adding importing numerous line styles and/or loading their resource files into the system folder. 
 I hope this works for you because this was driving me insane. 
 By the way, I updated my video card drivers, tried the XOR SET WHITE and other suggestions listed here but this in the only thing that fixed the cursor color while using dim tools.

I saw one post regarding the scale settings under Display settings and that fixed mine. I use a HP Zbook and mirror my laptop to two monitors. I clicked on the Advanced scaling settings and turned off the options for "Let Windows try to fix apps so they're not blurry" option.

I had this same problem when I got a 2560x1440 monitor. The HDR setting in windows display settings was turned on cause its an HDR monitor. If you turn that off you will get your white crosshair back when trying to manipulate

Nearing 2023 and on version 10.17.00.209 and this is still an issue :) 
 tl;dr: Selecting one of your external monitors as the primary display fixes it (wihtout having to change resolution or scaling) it seems like the main cause of this is as follows: The in windows selected "primary monitor" has a smaller resolution or DPI than the screen you are running MicroStation on. 
 Consider the following monitor set up where I have 2 external monitors running at 1920x1200 and my laptop monitor running at 1920x1080 
 If I set my laptop monitor which has the smallest resolution as my main display And open MicroStation on my monitor laptop (1920x1080p) the cursor will be white on a black background (as expected). Now when I drag my MicroStation (or use a second view on a different monitor) to one of my external monitors (1920x1200p) the cursor will turn black on a black background. 
 If I now close out of MicroStation and set my main display to be one of the external displays that are 1920x1200p and open MicroStation on my now higher resolution external display the cursor will be white on a black background. Dragging the MicroStation view to my laptop monitor that has a small resolution than my main display the cursor will stay white on a black background. 
 For me and my draughtsman selecting the monitor with the highest resolution as the primary monitor fixes it 100% of the time without having to compromise on changing scaling, resolution or cursor size. But other people should test this and confirm if it works for them too. 
 Hopefully Bentley can look into this..

Back in 2019, I helped a co-worker with this issue. She could see her cursor if she was using MicroStation V8i on her laptop screen. If she was using one of her two display monitor screens, she could not see the cursor. Under display settings, we changed her screen resolution from 150% to 125%, and completely shut down her laptop. When she restarted her laptop and MicroStation, she could see her cursor once again on all screens!!! 
 Now a days, we are on CONNECT version, so I hope that this solution will still work. Good luck!
