What is the purpose of 3d sheets?
How should they be used?
You can rotate your 3d model inside the sheet
You can dimension them but those dimensions may not be correct unless the model is rotated flat to the display.
You should be able to rotate a referenced model any direction and get the correct dimensions.
You should be able to change the view setting per attached reference file. Hidden line illustration etc. with out having to save views 1st.

Hi,
Some Clients (such as one of ours) demands that Dimensions be in the 'Sheet' That's fine for most 3D modelling (Plan, Section & Elevation) but if you need to Dimension an Isometric - That can't be done in a 2D 'Sheet'
If you use a 3D 'Sheet' you can Dimension in the Z plane as well as X and Y.
Try it and see... Dimensioning an Iso in a sheet can only be done with a 3D sheet.
what about create saved view in model of iso 3d view then place it as a ref attach into your 2d sheet? Then you could do dimensions and use text at 30degress and ittalics for it to lean over... you might have to put iso grid to help visualise ....I havent tried this just thinking out loud but it might put you on the right track...

That's exactly what we do. But if it's a 2D sheet you'll only dimension in X and Y. Without a 3D sheet, you still won't be able to dimension in the Z plane. Give it a go. Not many people know this works. Do a sheet in 2D and one in 3D and attach a Iso SV and dimension in each. You'll see the difference.
