Microstation text justification

Microstation version 08.11.09.655

We are working on spot elevations text, for example, 9.8,  10.2, 11.4 etc...The text 9.8 with center bottom justification works just fine, however for the 2 digits or more spot elevation text the justification will be obviously off.  Is there a way where the text justification can be the decimal point of the text either with one or two or more digits?

thanks

  • Can you provide an example showing how you are meaning that the "bottom centre justification is obviously off" with text that has 2 digit. Maybe an example design file or screen capture highlighting exactly what you are expecting. Is this related to the justification not actually being located directly on top of the decimal point? If this is the case then you would need to understand justification of text takes into account ALL characters in the line and the centre justification would be at the centre of ALL of those characters.

I think what he's asking for is decimal justification.  Decimal justification aligns text to the decimal separator, irrespective of the number of digits to the left and right of the separator.  This is available in office apps. such as Word and Excel (which, of course, don't offer positional justification as implemented by MicroStation).

MicroStation has never offered decimal justification, so this would be an extension of the existing nine positional justification options.

  • Hi Cezar,

I confirms Jon's answer: MicroStation does not allow to define "decimal point justification".

I have seen design files with such text justification used, but in all cases the text was placed by some special (often surveying or GIS) application.

    With regards,

How are you placing the 2 decimal text for it to be  off when you  place it?

Can you describe the  work flow?

I have a macro to change text justification without  moving it existing text dont know it that would help you?

When I do spot  heights they are preceded with a cross  cell then offset by a distance... take a look at  civtools.ma  (search  bently library utilities)  you can make a script to run with this to place the  + at the spot height and label the text by the real RL  and set the  precision , it puts things on specific level names  so you could globally shift the  RLs a set amount and have the justification as  LC...

I've added this Idea for text decimal justification.
