IDEAS - What will Bentley do with them and when?

I can appreciate Ian's feelings on this subject and even sympathies with it.

For myself I'd like Bentley to ask questions and for "ideas" which result in getting the entire community into CE.  I know our office wont move till a few critical issues are resolved because they are "show stoppers" and some of them are not bugs but unforeseen consequences of the changes from v8i to CE.

Once the community as a whole is actually using CE in it's entirety from 2D to 3D and cloud services in between I'll be more concerned with whats happening to all the Ideas.  Till then i get the feeling allot of the community is still in V8i-SS4 and have no intention of moving into CE yet though i could be wrong.  For a product now 1 year post release that is a pretty big deal.

Between the overhead of migrating data and configurations, the preferences of our major clients, and all of the bugs I see here just about every day, we will not be moving to Connect any time soon.

I suspect that the Ideas section was begun with the best of intentions, but the Connect Release proved to be FAR too premature. All of the effort is going into bug fixes and stabilizing the platform (as well as attempting to generate usable verticals). If the basics aren't reliable, what good are our Ideas?

I remember a time when Bentley, at least seemingly, cared about us users. It was long ago. For quite a while now they only seem to care about the potential user (read sales).

I imagine there are a good many folks like me who are always looking for the next group of creative minds for a new CAD program. As an independent, Bentley is really hard on the wallet, really light on features. Unfortunately, right now it's the only thing that satisfies my needs. There's always it's twin brother Autodesk, but no difference there.
