Hi,
Using Mirostation connect U1
Im having problems making a custom colortable stick to a specific set of dgn files.
The dgn files and some more info can be found here:
http://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/f/273/p/119787/370194#370194
All the methods mentioned in the thread will indeed attach the color table, but then i restart MICROSTATION it reverts back to the old color table ( back to the color table that is currently in the dgn file) . I do save setting, so that’s not the reason. I think there must be something with these files, (or with my setup) as I have done this successfully before on other files.
I would be grateful if somebody could try to attache this colorbook on to the V8 dgn file. Atleast then i would know if its only me...

It's a colour table, not a colour book! Those are two different ways of using colours. Colour books were introduced with MicroStation XM.
Anyway, I am able to attach that colour table to your DGN file using MicroStation V8i, save it, and see it attached when I reopen the DGN file.
I put the *.tbl in the \Workspace\Standards\data folder, which MicroStation V8i includes in its search paths by default.
However, I believe that the file name of a colour table must conform to old MS-DOS standards, with a max. length of 12 characters (e.g. colortbl.tbl). I'm happy to be corrected, but try using a shorter name than sine-farger-color-table.tbl.

Hi, Okay i am convinced that this is a bug in Microstation Connect U1. The colortable works just fine in Vi8, and it stays when i save settings and reopen. but it will not stick in connect on this dgn file.
I also shortened the name on the colour table, but that did not make any difference. Regards Helge

You posted two DGN files with that name: one a V7 file and one a V8 file. We don't know which one Melissa used.
If you're attempting to set a long colour table name in a V7 file, that won't work. V7 has a hard-coded limitation for the table name length, and your long name exceeds that length.
Hi
With respect to your original untouched copies of the v7 files
Are you able to duplicate them and arun a simple script to batch to attach the new colour table ( keep the name and path short) and use the file design option..
I think you need to set your config to V7 mode not to change to v8 or read only but allow the change...
Then use the batch convert to v8 and csv remap your levels etc
I think this will fix most of the problem files...
Perhaps you need to do file verify file repair on those files you already converted to date through a batch script .. and them red the attach colour table script..
Does your company or any colleague have access to axiom tools file fixer , they could check one of your uncooperative files that dont let you stick the colour table..
Also maybe its just CE .. try not using it for this kind of thing...

Hi, Since i was getting in to a hurry i reverted back to using V8i to get the job done, and all files now have the correct colortable-) I dont have access to axim tools unfortunatly, but thanks for all the good tips. I will report this as a issue/bug in connect u1. Regards Helge
