Exporting 3d Microstation models to 3DS Max

Greetings,

Does any know how to export 3D dgn files to 3DS Max keeping all the individual parts/models intact?  When we open the file in 3DS max it becomes a single model so when you apply a texture the texture is applied to the entire model, all the individual components of the model have been fused together as one.  I have tried these formats, dwg, sat, fbx, obj.

    I did this after your suggestion but it did not fix the problem. However I was able to solve the issue by exporting to .sat then creating a new file and importing the .sat back into Microstation. I had to rebuild the model as parts were scattered around but not fused. Once I had finished I exported once again to .sat, created a new file, and imported it back in, it looked good. We then opened that .sat file in 3DS Max and it work perfectly. Bottom line I believe the original file was corrupt.
