Im getting closer, I have the chrome ball showing but If I try to click on the element or chrome ball noting happens. The link doesnt show up in project explorer, should it? this is the line I attached to a element below

If I tentative click on the element I can see the hyperlink information

My previous response was a recommendation of using 'Design Links' or as MicroStation calls them for the most part, 'Links'. These Design Links do follow the default browser you have chosen in your Windows settings. 'E-links' are an older link technology that is still supported by MicroStation, while 'Links' is a newer system put in place in the v8i series. This is why 'E-links' are programmed to only open in IE, while 'Links' are able to do this.

Erik Chrome was \is my default program
Ive seen the little chrome icon pop up from time to time but only in dwg files that were sent to me.
I never click on any, only because I didnt care about someones links. Its all about ME
My e-links do not show any markers. And the marker setting in the view attributes says NONE
The only way I can follow a link is use the follow link tool on the E-links dialog

I realize now that there is a way to complete the task of changing the default browser to follow links. You are still unable to choose the browser that opens up the Bentley Institute from the Help menu. If you are using post-v8i MicroStation, then here is what I recommend:

In your File Explorer, go to Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Set Default Programs and set Chrome as your default browser. Boom. Links (which are attached to elements) can now be opened via Google Chrome. The little icon which attaches itself to the linked element will even change to a chrome ball. I wish I had relayed this information sooner, however I myself did not know that MicroStation used the default program set by Windows to open the browser. Learn something new everyday.

If this does not fix your problem, let me know.

Oh for the good old days when bug fixes were released regularly without platform changes .... sorry rant over back to topic..

There may be a way to fool microstation.... it is extreme and I have not tried it, how about you rename rename original iexplorer.exe to MS_iexplorer.exe and rename chrome.exe to iexplorer.exe.

You'll also need to change your shortcut icons to suit the changes .... I recall doing something similar a long time ago to stop a particular virus finding iexplorer and corrupting it... crude but effective..again I say it it was a long time ago long before windows 7 or higher...

Unfortunately, this is not currently possible in MicroStation. MicroStation uses Internet Explorer and only IE to follow links and load the web browser. People have been asking for this for some time: communities.bentley.com/.../43726, communities.bentley.com/.../42812. Defects/Enhancements have been created in the past, but no change has been made so far.
