rename the extension of your text file  to .csv, then open in excel

    once in excel

    the  format should be

    x y z in each column

when working in 3d files and  if  z not given use  0  for z

you cannot have  headings  in the  excel file just  raw coordinates  you can now check for any strange  things  like commas or numbers not in separate columns

you can even add the 0's in the the 3rd column via excel auto fill..

now save again as  csv after any edits ...

THen open   the import coordiantes  xyz  tools under the dims misc I think .. you can always  find with help and dock it to top border I use it alot so  dont have to find it..

set your active settings to what you want  and  what you want ie cell or active  pointext then set the  tool to import the coord table, browse to the cv file and  use the same choice format ie xyz  you can even use a  xyzT but you need extra  column for the Text  ie T

data  point and wait for the  magic...  I think this is my favourite tool ....  it will let you do survey type imports like trees as cells  etc  but I only  do one type at a time for safety...bore holes is another  good type...
