MicroStation Connect Edition - Item Types

Ok. I’m flying completely by the seat of my pants on this, no training in Connect Edition, but many years on MicroStation.

Trying to use ITEM TYPES as a replacement for TAGS

• Created ITEM TYPES LIBRARY “Instruments”
• Create ITEM TYPE “Ibubble”
• Create two PROPERTY TYPES “Type” and “Number”
• “Type” PROPERTY DEFINITION – TYPE = Text, ISARRAY = False, DEFAULT VALUE = XXX
• “Number” PROPERTY DEFINITION – TYPE = Text, ISARRAY = False, DEFAULT VALUE = XXX

• Create a CIRCLE in MODEL of CELL LIBRARY
• ATTACH ITEM to the circle
• Place two FIELDS, FIELD TYPE = Element Properties, one for each PROPERTY TYPE “Type” and “Number”
• FIELDS takes on the default values of each PROPERTY TYPE
• Place cell in drawing – Now can’t change the value of the PROPERTY TYPE with ELEMENT PROPERTIES dialog box

Again, this is just my take on how to use ITEM TYPES, but I am obviously doing something wrong.  What is it?
