Changing the weight of text in a note without affecting the leader weight

How do I change the weight of text in a note without changing the weight of the note leader? When we place notes we have the text at weight 2 and the leader and dimension line at weight 0. If I simply select the text and change the active weight to a different value, the weight of the note leader changes as well. See attached PDF for an example.

  • When you place a note down, the elements are placed in two parts: the leader with the arrow and the text, which comes with the in-line leader attached. This is why the in-line leader changes weight along with the text, it is part of the text element. There are two ways to work around this.

    1) Change the dimension style and remove the in-line leader. You won't have the in-line leader anymore, but now you won't see that weight disconnect.

    2) Drop the note. The note will become text, a line element next to it, and then the dimension of the leader itself. You can then change the weight of the text to whatever you want and the in-line leader will not change because it has become disassociated. (NOTE: This will break the association of the note and the dimension will switch to a different linestyle (symbology) if you have that setting enabled in your preferences.)
