I've made a switch from Autodesk software (AutoCAD and Revit) to Microstation V8i SS3 and have been using it for the past few months.
I am attempting to set up Sheet Models, using seed files containing the Title Blocks and referencing in a design or base file to place and display on the sheet/title block. After getting things figured out with drawing and annotation scales, I am to the point where I want to clip the design file in order to display what I want to put on the sheet (without merging). I am able to clip the design file once and display on the title block just fine.
But I am wanting to display multiple areas of the same design file on the same title block, without attaching the design file twice in the same Sheet Model (I've been told this is bad practice). A lot like having multiple viewports on a single sheet or layout tab in AutCAD to display different areas of design/model. Is this possible? If not what is the best way to go about this exercise in setting up this type of Sheet?
but to answer the question - yes you will need to attach a reference of the model each time (whether it is a saved view or not).

But you can save a little time and create your seed file with the drawing sheet already built in model and ref attached a title block dgn which has multimodels of each title block sizes needed..
and the model space already refed in as NESTED ref depth >1 with no clipping defined yet..
then when you make a new dgn with the custom seed you only have to attach refs to your model(space) and the first view port is done for you ...hey its not perfect..
but it doesnt take long to add a title block to a dgn sheet model ( paper space for acad speak)...
You could even work out the commands to do this and put them in an F key.... if you look over my past posts over the years you'll see I really love custom F keys!
or record a macro to do it and run that from the custom F key...
