pattern bugs

I am having trouble with patterns

If I run the verifydgn command I often get an error that looks like this

verifyPatternLinkage error: unsupported pattern modifiers bits 0x00481bb3 (unsupported=0x00400000)

If I run the repair dgn then some patterns may be deleted.

  • Would you be able to supply further information regarding how these pattern elements were originally created. Were they produced in software other than plain MicroStation? I am assuming this design file is a V8 DGN format but has this file been converted from another format? Which version of MicroStation is being used when these errors are being detected? Maybe you could supply and example file for testing.

I had similar problems at my last work place, I tracked it down to users ( me included)  ref attaching DWG files to DGNs and copying through some acad patterns, and  blocks  etc  with copy paste instead of converting the dwg first.... I was able to find and repair  this via the axiom tools  suite  but I'm not sure how you fix this error without axiom.. it reported the  ids and let me find by ids and delete the patterns and dead/ dud  pattern definitions.. this can even happen with mstn pattern definitions   that are no longer valid.. again without the axiom tools  I cant  fix it  but this may help put you in the right direction....

I have this issue with or without a dwg referenced. Typically I avoid dwg. If I do use a dwg file I convert it to dgn and then into a 2d file. Then I run axiom filefixer.

so what is a invalid mstn pattern definition?

Here is a sample file I just ran verify dgn on.

    THe file is 614-jacks Newark 606 Dining2pull,dgn

so what  did axiom file fixer tell you about this file?

why bother with verify when you have axiom tools available?

  • The modifier bit 0x00400000 denotes the use of annotation scale which is new since CONNECT. It is not recognized in prior releases.
