Grey Raster Images

Could you post the file so I can take a look? What are you seeing in your Raster Manager?

If you double click on the raster image name in Raster Manager it will bring up an Element Information box. In the Image section what is Color Mode set to?

In Workspace > Preference > Memory is Raster Load Mode set to Automatic or to Standard? If it is set to Standard please look at

and try the steps to where you search for .cTIFF files and delete them.

Is Transparency set on the JPG images?
Is Clip turned on for the JPG images?

Can you click on the attached link and download your dataset? If you can also include a notepad file with your contact information.

If it is a raster cache issue then deleting the .cTIFF files may resolve your problem. May you are out of MicroStation when you delete the .cTIFF files.

If you have Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > “Display Raster Using an Independent Process” set can you try changing the setting?

If you have View Display style (Smooth:Shadows) and/or the “Default Lightning” set can you try a different View Display Style or try turning “Default Lightning” off.

Does the JPEG image show grayed out on all user workstations or just your workstation? Do you have an NVIDIA graphic card? If so, can you tell us what model NVIDIA graphic card that you have? Have you tried updating your video card driver?

I am using MicroStation V8i, Version 08.11.09.614.

The jpegs are attached through the raster manager, so they do not show up in the references.

All the view sets are blue.

First thing I would try is to clear any cached images:

If you used the instructions from the EnvisonCAD website you will need to realize the raster cache files will have to be recreated each time you open a DGN file with raster images attached. If you set Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Memory > Raster Loadmode to Standard for a reason like raster images to display faster then setting Cache Manager to delete on Exit then your raster images will be slow displaying. For example a JPEG that takes 7 minutes to display will always take 7 minutes to display every time you open the DGN file. If you allow it to create the .ctiff (raster cache) file and not delete it then the next time the DGN file is opened it will take ~7 seconds. The raster cache sometimes may cause a problem and it a good idea to delete them when you have a problem.
