I've noticed that in CE Update 3 that it snaps to the line work of clipped references outside of the clip. Is this intended behavior?
It seems to only snap to lines that are clipped and not lines that don't show at all, but I'd rather it not find lines outside of the clip shape at all.
Hi Ryan, Actually this is Reference (Clip/Visible Edges) issue. Filed a Defect 620708 for this. BTW, you can try following workaround... Open References dialog> select three references> in ‘Visible Edges’ column> click on ‘Dynamic’ and change to ‘Cashed’> Ok. Clipped elements will not get selected/snap outside the clipped boundary. Thanks for reporting, Manoj
I just wanted to check up on this. I've gotten back into trying to work with CEU6 and I noticed this is still a problem. I can select lines that go way outside of the clip boundary. It makes it difficult at times when you end up selecting stuff you can't see. The workaround also doesn't help with 2D files since Cashed Visible edges is only for 3D files yet the problem persists even with 2D files. Here is a video showing what I'm dealing with. You can see that I had trouble doing the drag selection at times because it's grabbing hold of lines that can't be seen outside the clip shape.
Looks like Defect # 620708 reported by Manoj has not yet been completed but has been approved for a future release.

Thanks for the update.
Was this ever addressed? I'm having the exact same problem. I'm using ORD CE 2021 Release 2 Update 10 Version 10.10.21.04.
The workaround (cached visible edges) works, but I am unaware of what, if any, impacts that will have on my files. Visible edges is not a column I ever have on my references dialog.
I can find no mention of defect # 620708 being addressed in any past update logs and I still see the same issue in a file that I tested so I'm going to assume it has not been addressed even though it's a 5+ year old defect. I really wish they would work harder at addressing defects instead of adding more features.
