I am looking for a better way to process large surveys. When I order a survey it will be delivered as a .dgn file which is great but with AEC CADD standard levels. V-Levels for existing features. I tend to do a lot of work for the Department of Transportation and their preferred levels would be pho. levels or photogramic levels. Is there currently a script or a mdl app that would read my survey file and change levels from V's to pho. so lets say it will see in the file a V-BLDG-OTLN and change it to a phobldg level. Any advice would be appreciated.

Would it be sufficient to change the name of the level from V-BLDG-OTLN to phobldg? Or, do you need some elements to remain on level V-BLDG-OTLN while other elements are moved to level phobldg?

On the File Menu, Select Export or Save as. Notice there is an extra button - Options. This has different results depending upon the file type, but V8 to V8 opens a dialog box and one of its tabs is Remap - it has a field for a filename, a browse, edit and a new button. These allow you to select a CSV file that can be created edited or used to remap many items in a DGN file when saved to another DGN file, a V7 DGN file or a DWG file. It requires Excel and macros must be enabled in Excel. In Help, follow this path: Setting Up Projects > Using DWG and Other File Formats > Working with DWG Data > Saving to DWG Files > Remapping Data to Other File Formats > Using the Remapping Spreadsheet The last two are actually links on the Saving to DWG Files that open in-line. Once you have one setup, it can be used over and over. One tip is to make an everything else item wherever possible that puts stuff on a junk level. Makes it easier to determine what is being missed in your setup. The tabs that need to pull named items from files have a button to automatically pull it from the open file. These would be level names, Linestyles, fonts and cells. Most tabs also have optional columns that can be revealed using a provided checkbox. These allow you to segregate elements by more than one element attribute, in the event a client uses multiple levels that another client uses only one. This can split items up to different levels or consolidate items from multiple levels onto a single level.

In addition to what has already been suggested by "caddcop" in relation to using a remap file under the Save As options, I might suggest having a look through the following article in relation to this:
