Microstation Connect, V8i and LumenRT will not open on Dell M3800 Workstation

I wonder if anybody can help me with the following problem:

I have a  Dell Precision M3800 with 16GB RAM and a 2 GB NVIDIA Quadro K1100M,

When new I could use Microstation V8i but about 6 months ago it refused to open unless I disabled the NVIDIA card.

This worked OK for low graphics applications but I am now converting to Connect and have purchased LumenRT both of which need at least 2GB.

Has anyone had the same problem? according to Dell it is not a hardware problem.

Many Thanks

  • I would also like to add that the NVIDIA Quadro K1100M graphics card was originally release in 2013 so may be getting a little old now for the lastest versions of DirectX that are coming out with the updates to Windows. If you had to "disable" the NVIDIA card then this would indicate a problem here. Not sure how this was "disabled" but if it involved backtracking on the version of DirectX then it is most like the age of the card. I would suggest if you are going to be upgrading to use the CONNECT versions of MicroStation and LumenRT then you should probably also upgrade the system it is being installed onto.
